NaCCA has taken the step to withdraw the “Our World Our People” (OWOP) program from the primary school curriculum.
In a recent development, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has made the decision to remove the subject “Our World Our People” from the Standards-Based curriculum, effective from the upcoming academic year.
This decision was prompted by a comprehensive review that highlighted similarities and knowledge repetition between Religious and Moral Education (RME) and OWOP.
NaCCA’s objective is to enhance the Standards-Based Curriculum by focusing on the individual strands covered in RME. The official letter, dated November 13, 2023, has been addressed to the Ministry of Education and relevant stakeholders, requesting their support in implementing this change.
