[Video] Hearts of Oak fans booed Aboubakar Ouattara following the team’s loss to Basake Holy Stars.

Hearts of Oak fans turned on head coach Aboubakar Ouattara after losing to newcomers Basake Holy Stars in their opening match of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians played host to the debutant side at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Despite home advantage, a 2nd-minute header by Prince Tweneboah sealed a 1-0 victory for Basake Holy Stars, leaving Hearts of Oak empty-handed.

At the final whistle, frustrated fans voiced their anger over what they called a subpar performance, with many calling for the sacking of Ouattara.

The coach, who took charge on a two-year contract midway through last season, now faces mounting pressure just one game into the new campaign.

Supporters fear that if their team can’t secure a win against a newly promoted side, they might struggle against more established teams, including arch-rivals Asante Kotoko
