Kenya’s Fake Professional Dilemma Continues: Imposter Doctor Practiced for 16 Years
Kenya finds itself in the spotlight once again as another case emerges involving a fraudulent individual. This time, it involves a fake doctor who managed to practice medicine for nearly two decades without a valid degree.
This incident follows closely on the heels of the arrest of Brian Mwenda, a fake lawyer who shockingly won 26 cases despite lacking any legal training.
Kenya Medical Council Takes Decisive Action: Fake Doctor Deregistered
According to recent reports, David Nyawade Onyango, the imposter doctor, has been officially deregistered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) after practicing medicine without a degree for 16 years. Remarkably, Nyawade falsely claimed to be a surgeon despite lacking the necessary undergraduate medical qualifications.
The KMPDC released an official statement announcing that David Nyawade Onyango, also known as ‘David Onyango Nyawade,’ is no longer authorized to practice as a medical doctor in Kenya. However, the council did not provide further details explaining the reasons behind Nyawade’s deregistration.
A Growing Concern: Infiltration of Impostors in Professional Circles
This development coincides with the revelation by Eric Theuri, the President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), of yet another imposter amid increasing reports of quacks posing as professionals. Sharon Adunya Atieno had been impersonating a lawyer without the necessary qualifications mandated by law.
Sharon’s arrest closely follows the exposure of Brian Mwenda. Mwenda recently appeared in court, facing six charges that include uttering a false document, creating a false document, and practicing without a certificate. During his court appearance before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina, Mwenda pleaded not guilty.
