NTC to Inspect Schools for Teachers’ Compliance with National Teachers’ Standards.
Notification Regarding Inspection of Teachers’ Licenses in Schools
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has an important update to share with you. As per section 83 of Act 1023, the responsibility for inspecting teachers’ licenses in schools has been assigned to the National Teaching Council (NTC).
New Guidelines and Assessment Tools for Compliance Inspections
To ensure compliance with the licensing standards and regulations for the teaching profession, the NTC has developed comprehensive guidelines and assessment tools. These resources will serve as the foundation for conducting compliance inspections in schools.
Appointment and Training of Compliance Officers
To carry out these inspections effectively, the NTC has appointed and provided specialized training to dedicated compliance officers. These officers will be operating in eighteen (18) selected Metro/Municipal/Districts across the Ashanti, Eastern, Greater Accra, and Northern Regions.
Objective of the Inspections
The primary objective of these inspections is to assess teachers’ adherence to the established standards for the teaching profession. The evaluation will be based on these standards and will serve as the criteria for renewing teachers’ licenses.
Scheduled Inspections
The inspections are scheduled to take place from November to December 2023. Therefore, the Regional Directors of Education are kindly requested to inform the designated Metro/Municipal/District Directors (attached list) about this upcoming exercise.
