NIA has begun the free distribution of Ghana Cards in the Greater Accra region and urges the public to report any staff members who ask for payment.
The National Identification Authority (NIA) has officially announced that the distribution of Ghana Cards will begin in the Greater Accra Region on Monday, April 7, 2025.
This initiative will address the backlog of printed cards and facilitate new registrations at all NIA District Offices.
The NIA has stated that all Ghanaians who have applied for card issuance, replacements, or updates to their personal information since June 2023 and have not yet received their cards can now pick them up at the District Offices where they registered.
Furthermore, Ghanaians aged 15 and older who have not yet registered for the Ghana Card are encouraged to do so starting April 7 at any NIA District Office in the Greater Accra Region.
The NIA has made it clear that the issuance of printed backlog cards and first-time registrations will be entirely free of charge.
The Authority is also urging the public to report any NIA personnel who attempt to charge fees for these services, as such practices are not permitted.
However, district offices will continue to charge the standard fees for services like card replacement and updates to personal records.
The NIA reiterated its dedication to ensuring that every Ghanaian receives the Ghana Card, an essential means of identification.
